Assessing the Hydropower Potential Using Hydrological Models and Geospatial Tools in the White Bandama Watershed (Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa)

An assessment of hydropower potential at the watershed scale was conducted White Bandama Watershed (WBW) in Côte d'Ivoire (West Africa). The method used involves application a hydrological model [Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT)] coupled with Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS), denoted as QSWAT, to assess water resource availability streams determine sites for future development watershed. Geospatial data about topography, soil types, land use/land cover, weather, discharge were considered hydro-geomorphological characterization Streamflow climate data-enabled operation simulation hydrology performance robustness confirmed p-factor, r-factor , coefficient determination R 2 Nash–Sutcliffe (NS) efficiency coefficient. evaluated by considering simulated streamflow head. A total 22 identified, geolocated, classified an estimated production capacity 538.56 MW.
